SUMMER PROGRAMS AT MORVEN PARK
Morven Park, located just outside of Leesburg, Virginia, is pleased to
announce a full summer schedule of programs for families. Once home to Virginia's
Governor Westmoreland Davis, Morven Park is pleased to continue a tradition begun by Governor and
Mrs. Davis, to provide educational opportunities for local children.
THE MANSION TOUR from a child's prospective, is available on June 15, July
20 and August 17. The tour begins at 11:30AM on the Mansion's portico and concludes at
12:30PM. This tour is geared for ages 6 - 10 and does not include tours of other museum
buildings.
Another tour focuses on the Winmill Carriage Collection and is called
DRIVING THROUGH HISTORY. This tour is available on June 26, July 10, July 24, August 7 and
August 21. The tour begins at 10:00AM at the Winmill Carriage Collection building and
concludes at 11:00AM. The tour is geared for ages 6 - 10 and does include the exhibits featuring a
blacksmith and harness making shop.
BIRDS, BUGS AND TREES is a program that concentrates on the gardens at
Morven Park. This tour takes approximately one hour and is offered on July 3, July 17,
July 31 and August 14. The tour begins at 10:00AM and concludes at approximately 11:00AM. This
tour does involve walking so wear comfortable shoes and bring water and bug spray. The tour
is offered for ages 4 - 8 and does not include any of the museum buildings.
RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE for all the above summer tours.
