Morven Park Summer Dressage Classic

Musical Competition to Highlight Morven Park Summer Dressage Classic

LEESBURG, June 27-Over 200 horses are expected to compete at the annual Morven Park Summer Dressage Classic on July 26-27, 2003 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Morven Park Equestrian Center in Leesburg. There is no admission fee for spectators.

Included in the two-day schedule of competition is the exciting Musical Freestyle, which will be held both before and after lunchtime on Saturday, July 27 inside the Swiss-American Indoor Arena. A musical freestyle matches choreographed movements to the beat of specially-selected music, similar to figure skating, which emphasizes the gracefulness of communication between the horse and rider.

The Morven Park Equestrian Center is located just north of Leesburg on Route 15. From Leesburg, take Route 15 North towards Frederick, Maryland. Turn left onto Tutt Lane/Route 740. Follow Tutt Lane approximately one mile to the center's entrance on the left, and then follow the signs to the designated parking areas. For more information or to volunteer to assist with the show call (703) 777-2890.

PHOTO CAPTION: Dressage displays the power, grace and elegance achieved through years of training of horse and rider.
