Attention: Failure to read and obey the following conditions may result in your entries not being accepted or your horses being scratched.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1. All horses, owners, trainers and riders must be acceptable to the Race Committees.

2. The Race Committees reserve the right to split, combine or cancel any race.

3. The Race Committees reserve the right to refuse any entry.

4. The Race Committees may vary the conditions or courses in any way which may seem in the best interests of the race meets.

5. The Stewards may scratch any horse or rider.

6. An official veterinarian may recommend to the Stewards that an entry be scratched due to unsoundness.

7. The Race Committees and the owners of the properties on which the races are held assume no responsibility for injury or loss incurred by either participants or spectators, and entries are accepted only under the condition that the participants release them from any and all liability.

8. Horses must be checked in at the scratch board near the paddock with the Race Day Secretary, Virginia Beach, no later than one hour prior to the post time listed on the overnight sheet of the first race in which they are entered. This will be strictly enforced.

9. Minimum age for all riders will be sixteen. This does not apply to pair, old-fashioned and junior races.

10. A junior is a rider who has not reached his or her sixteenth birthday as of 1/1/2006.

11. Junior races are restricted to riders who are not licensed to ride under rules.

12. Ponies may be measured at the Stewards’ discretion.

13. Current coggins tests are required and must be available on race day; likewise a health certificate must accompany horses shipping from outside Virginia.

14. All races will be ridden in proper race or hunting attire and protective head gear. All riders must wear protective vests.

15. Riders are responsible for their own lead weights.

16. Horses must be entered and run under registered names.

17. All allowances must be claimed at time of entry. Allowances for maidens apply to the type races (timber, hurdle, flat) in which they are entered. Correct weights are the responsibility of the person making the entry.

18. Mares are allowed five pounds in all races.

19. Point-to-points are not sanctioned by the NSA, therefore results will have no effect on a horse's eligibility in sanctioned races.

20. All riders must read and sign waiver of liability forms, and they must be filed at the scratch board near the paddock before being allowed to participate in any race on the Virginia Point-to-Point Circuit. In case of minors the signing of indemnification agreements will be required.

20a. Outriders and all other persons on horses/ponies on the grounds are required to wear protective head gear and to read and sign waiver of liability forms, and these forms must be on file.

21. Workmen's Compensation or personal insurance will be required of all riders. Proof of insurance will be required before being allowed to ride.

22. Races will be split at the Stewards' discretion when there are more than the number of starters allowed in each point-to-point's conditions.

23. Scratch time is 11:00 a.m., the Wednesday prior to the races at (703) 777-2575. Scratches after this time may be made until 9:00 a.m. race day with Virginia Beach (540) 364-9595.

24. The use of turn downs and raised toes (toe grabs) is prohibited. Horses will be scratched or disqualified. A "raised" toe is defined as an extension of the toe that exceeds 1/16 inch in depth.

25. The NSA Rule Book is used where applicable.

26. The Stewards shall exercize immediate supervision, control and regulation of racing at each point to point. Race Day Stewards have the authority to assess fines on trainers and riders for specific infractions of rules. By entering a horse in a VPPA Sanctioned race, trainers and riders agree to abide by those rules governing fines.

27. Pre-race veterinary examinations will be conducted.

28. Lead ponies or horses will be allowed only to take horses to the start and then must clear the race course and remain stationary until the completion of the race. In all races horses or ponies may be led to the start but released when under starter's orders. Exceptions will be at the discretion of the starter.

29. Any rider who falls or is thrown will not be allowed to ride again during the day until he or she is examined and cleared by the official physician and the stewards are so advised by the official physician.

30. Violations of any of the general conditions may result in denial of the right to participate in races on the Virginia Point-to-Point Circuit.

31. Novice Riders over fences will be allowed 10 lbs. in non-series races over fences. (including the novice timber and hurdle series) A novice is a rider who has not won ten races over fences prior to 1/1/2006.

32. Every rider in all races must check out and in with the Clerk of Scales. This applies in races where weight is listed as "catch weights".

CONDITIONS GOVERNING ENTRIES

POINT TO POINTS AND PAIR EVENTS

1. Number cloths will not be issued until entry fees are paid.

2. All entry fees are the responsibility of the person making the entry.

3. Entry fees should be paid by check (not cash) to the Race Clerk when reporting horses in on race day.

4. Entries will not be allowed to start until past year's entry fees have been paid.

5. Failure to pay entry fees in a prompt manner may result in denial of entry privileges.

6. The Racing Secretary reserves the right to extend the closing of entries to facilitate the filling of races. This may apply to a race or races that do not fill at the time of closing.7. The order of races on race day may be different from the order in the condition book. It is the participant's responsibility to be informed by the overnight sheet or by telephone.

8. All entries by telephone to (703) 777-2575 between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on the Monday preceding the races or by fax (703) 777-3282 or by e-mail at www.morvenpark.org/ceo. Scratches or changes must be made by 11:00 a.m. the Wednesday preceding the races by telephone, fax or e-mail.

POST ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED UNLESS AN EXCEPTION IS INCLUDED ON THE OVERNIGHT TO FACILITATE FILLING RACES.

POINTS IN ALL SERIES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE FIRST FOUR FINISHERS: 5-3-2-1. IN THE CASE OF A WALKOVER HALF POINTS WILL BE AWARDED.

(In order to be eligible for year-end awards horses and or riders must make at least two starts and must EARN at least FIVE POINTS.)

HUNTER PACE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Points awarded in four divisions - Adult Optimum Time, Junior or Adult/Junior Optimum Time, Adult Fast Time and Optimum Time on the Flat. The optimum time divisions over fences and on the flat are sponsored by the Rappahannock Hunt in memory of Mary Mel Lewis-Sweatt. The Michael Power Plate will be awarded to the season-long winner of the fast time division. Donated by the Warrenton Hunt.

HUNTER PACE SERIES CONDITIONS

1. Juniors in pair races are those who have not reached their 16th birthday as of 1/1/2006.

2. Championships are awarded in four divisions: Adult Optimum Time, Junior or Adult/Junior Optimum Time, Fast Time Adults and Optimum Time on the Flat.

3. The Junior or Adult/Junior Optimum Time division is open to pairs of juniors or pairs consisting of an adult and a junior.

4. To accrue points for year-end titles the horse / rider combinations must remain consistent. (The same horse and rider each meet.)

5. Horses and riders must have fairly hunted for at least six times during the current season with any foxhunting or beagle pack or pony club.

6. Pair members do not have to represent the same hunt.

7. Insurance waivers must be signed before anyone can compete.

8. Distances of the races are about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 miles.

9. All entries in series races must be made to the Central Entry Office (703) 777-2575 before 11:00 a. m. the Wednesday preceding the event. Entry fee: $30.00 per pair. In order to be eligible for year-end awards in all divisions, entries must be made by 11:00 a. m. Wednesday. Post entries may be allowed by individual point to points, but under no circumstances will points be awarded to post entries.

10. Declare the division in which you are competing at the time of entry.

11. NO SCHOOLING. Courses may be walked in advance.

ENTRY FEES IN POINT-TO-POINT RACES

Unless otherwise noted in the race conditions:

In junior races: entry fee $10.

In all other races: entry fee $25.

In drawn races horses scratched after 11:00 a.m., the Wednesday prior to the races will pay an additional $25.

In pair races: entry fee $30 per pair.

NO POST ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED UNLESS AN EXCEPION IS INCLUDED ON THE OVERNIGHT TO FACILITATE FILLING RACES.

VHBPA SPRING FLAT SERIES

The Virginia Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (VHBPA) is sponsoring a series of flat races for Registered Virgina Bred horses. A Virginia Bred certificate from the Virginia Thoroughbred Association must be submitted at time of entry. The VHBPA is offering a $2,000 purse to be paid through the first five finishers for each of these races. Purse distribution in all races: 60% to first, 20% to second, 11% to third, 5% to fourth, 4% to fifth. Races will be carded for Virginia Bred maidens and winners. These races will be carded if there are 5 entries and will be run if there are 3 starters.

VIRGINIA POINT TO POINT

CHAMPIONSHIPS & SERIES CONDITIONS

PAGELAND AMATEUR/NOVICE RIDER HURDLE SERIES

For four-year-olds and up, which have not won under rules since 1/1/03 other than in maiden, claiming races or amateur rider only races and that are ridden by an amateur or novice rider. An amateur is defined as a person who has not been licensed and/or paid as a professional since 2000 and whose primary source of income is not derived from training or riding race horses. A novice is defined as a rider who has not won ten races over fences prior to 1/1/06. Weight 170 lbs. Maidens allowed 10 lbs. Riders, who have won under rules over fences since 2004, 5 lbs. extra. For each 2006 series win, 3 lbs. extra up to 6 lbs. over the base weight. In the event that a base weight of less than 170 lbs. is set by the entered riders in a given race, the assessed handicaps will be added to the reduced base weight. No rider allowances will be allowed. Points will be awarded to horse/rider combinations. Only five best starts to count toward season championship. Series races at Casanova, Blue Ridge, Warrenton, Farmington/Keswick, Orange County, and Middleburg. Only five best starts to count toward season championship. There will be a separate award given to the leading owner/rider in the series if not the winner of the series. Sponsored by Pageland Farm.

SEVEN CORNERS OWNER RIDER TIMBER SERIES

Sponsored by Armfield, Harrison & Thomas, Inc.

For five-year-olds and up ridden by gentlemen owner/riders who hunt with any recognized or organized foxhunting or beagle packs whose entry is acceptable to the Seven Corners Committee. Horses must have hunted six or more times and for at least half of the hunting day by the legal owner or lessee of the horse or family member with any foxhunting or beagle pack during the current season. The owner's word to be proper certification of this qualification. Any questions to be resolved by the MFH of the hunts with which the horse has hunted. Minimum weight as established by conditions of each race, the minimum carried to be not less than 180 lbs. (excepting maiden allowance of 10 lbs. and mare allowance of 5 lbs.) or such lower weight as may be agreed in the paddock by unanimous consent of all owner/riders, competing for Seven Corners points and approved by the Hunt Race Committee. An additional 3 lbs. is to be assessed for each Seven Corners win during a given season, up to a total of 6 lbs. over the base weight. No rider allowances. In the event that a base weight of less than 180 lbs. is set by the entered owner/riders in a given race, the assessed 3 to 6 lb. handicaps will be added to the reduced base weight. Maidens over timber are allowed 10 lbs. Series races at Casanova, Rappahannock, Blue Ridge, Piedmont, Old Dominion, Loudoun and Fairfax. Only five best starts to count toward season championship. Perpetual Trophy donated by Times Community Papers.

ORANGE COUNTY LEADING FOXHUNTER RIDER

For five-year-olds and up ridden by foxhunter riders, who have not won a race over fences since 2000 with the exception of pair, old-fashioned or foxhunters-only races. A rider/horse combination that has won five races over fences prior to 1/1/2006 is not eligible to compete in this series. Riders and horses must have hunted six or more times and for at least half of the hunting day with any recognized foxhunting pack during the current season. To be ridden in formal hunting attire with racing boots, breeches and tack allowed. (Overgirths and approved safety helmets and vests are required.) Weight 170 lbs. For each 2006 series win, 3 lbs. extra up to 6 lbs. over the base weight. Masters must certify in writing that both the horse and rider have hunted regularly and fairly during the current season. Proper certification, which is the responsibility of the foxhunter owner and rider, is to be kept chronicling one's hunting days and signed by the Master(s). Certification will be required prior to participation in the series and must be filed with the Central Entry Race Secretary or Race Day Secretary prior to issue of number cloths on race day. Series races at Casanova, Rappahannock, Warrenton, Piedmont, Orange County and Loudoun. Sponsored by the Orange County Hunt.

Full points awarded for winning races over fences, half points awarded for winning races on the flat. Sponsored by Dominion Saddlery.

Junior Field Masters Chase

Open to Junior Riders on Horses or Ponies. For Five-Year-Olds and Up that have fairly hunted with any foxhunting or beagle pack or pony club and if needed, may be asked for Masters certification. Pony and rider combinations will be entered recognizing their respective hunts or pony clubs. Riders are to follow the Field Master at a hunting pace over a flagged course not to exceed two miles and no less than one and one half miles, with obstacles no more than three feet in height. At a point following the last fence, the Field Master will release the field to race for the finish. Trophies awarded in three divisions: small ponies (under 13.0 hands), large ponies (13.0 to 14.2 hands) and horses. Catch weights. Series races at Rappahannock, Blue Ridge, Orange County, Old Dominion, Loudoun, Virginia Gold Cup.

LEASED HORSES

In all owner/rider races participants may ride horses that were leased prior to 1/1/2006. Proper certification of authorized agreement between lessee and lessor must be submitted to the Board of Stewards.

Horses and riders must have fairly hunted during the current season with any foxhunting or beagle pack or pony club. Points Count Toward Year-End Awards.

Second Race – THE CULPEPER OPEN PACE

Same as first race except riders are not required to be members of a recognized hunt and horses are not required to have been fairly hunted. Optimum Time Only.

Third Race – THE DEVIL’S RUN FLAT RACE

Hunter Pace Event on the Flat

About 3 miles. Optimum Time Only. For pairs of horses and/or ponies at catch weights. Adults and/or Juniors. NO JUMPS. Points Count Toward Year-End Awards

ADDITIONAL RACE INFORMATION

Entry fee $30 per pair. Trophy and five ribbons in each division. Fast time entries to run first. Entrants must declare fast or optimum time before start of race.

The course will be ready to be walked Tuesday the week of the event. Jumps are mostly chicken coops 3' to 3'3". Maps available at the course. NO SCHOOLING ALLOWED.

Directions to Peacock Farm: From Culpeper, take Rt. 15 South for six miles. Turn left onto Rt. 648, Peacock Lane. Follow the gravel road and look for trailer parking on the right.

Second Race – Maiden Hurdle

About 1 1/2 miles. For Four-Year-Olds and Up which have never won over hurdles. Weights: four-year-olds, 155 lbs.; older, 160 lbs.

Third Race - NOVICE Timber

About 3 miles. For Five-Year-Olds and Up which have not won two point to point or one sanctioned race over timber prior to 1/1/06. Weight 165 lbs. For each 2006 series win, 3 lbs. extra up to 6 lbs. over the base weight.

Fourth Race - Lady Rider Timber

About 2 1/2 miles. For Five-Year-Olds and Up. The Tack Box Lady Rider Series Conditions. Weight 150 lbs. Maidens allowed 10 lbs. Winners under NSA rules over timber in 2005-06, 10 lbs. extra.

Fifth Race - Owner/Rider Timber

About 2 1/2 miles. For Five-Year-Olds and Up to be ridden by Gentlemen Owner/Riders. Seven Corners Series Conditions. Weight 180 lbs. Maidens allowed 10 lbs. For each 2006 series win 3 lbs. extra up to 6 lbs. over the base weight.

Sixth Race - Foxhunters Timber

About 2 1/4 miles. For Five-Year-Olds and Up. Orange County Foxhunter Series Conditions. Weight 170 lbs. For each 2006 series win 3 lbs. extra up to 6 lbs. over the base weight

Seventh Race - Maiden Flat

About 1 1/4 miles. For Four-Year-Olds and Up which have never won a race on the flat. Weights: four-year-olds, 145 lbs.; older, 150 lbs.

Eighth Race - Open Flat

About 1 1/4 miles. For Four-Year-Olds and Up. Weights: four-year-olds, 155 lbs.; older, 160 lbs. Maidens allowed 10 lbs. Winners under rules on the flat in 2005-06, 10 lbs. extra.

Ninth Race – Virginia Bred FLAT

About 1 3/8 miles. For Four-Year-Olds and Up which have started over fences. Weights: four-year-olds, 155 lbs.; older, 160 lbs. Maidens allowed 10 lbs. Winners under rules on the flat in 2005-06, 10 lbs. extra.

The hurdle races will be carded and run only if there are sufficient entries. If the hurdle races fail to fill sufficiently by scratch time Wednesday, the extra race will be run.

Entry fee $30 per pair. For qualifying riders, this race is part of the Hunter Pace Flat Series. Points Count Toward Year-End Awards.

ADDITIONAL PAIR RACE INFORMATION

Maps will be available for all the Hunter Pace Events at the course the Sunday prior to the races. NO SCHOOLING ALLOWED. The courses may be walked in advance.

DIRECTIONS TO THE HUNTER PACE COURSE

From Warrenton: take Rt 29 north to New Baltimore. Turn right onto Rt 600 east (Broad Run Church Rd). Continue to Rt 215 (Vint Hill Rd). Turn right onto Vint Hill Rd, go ¼ mile, entrance is on the left. (When leaving, return to Rt. 29 via Rt 600 to avoid the Rts 29 and 215 intersection).

From Gainesville: Take Rt 29 south to a left on Rt 215 (Vint Hill Rd). Continue 1 ¼ miles on Vint Hill Rd. Entrance is on the left. (When leaving, return to Rt. 29 via Rt 600 to avoid the Rts 29 and 215 intersection).

From Warrenton take Rt. 211 West past Washington, VA. The Bleu Rock Inn is located on the right side of Rt. 211 directly across the road from the Rappahannock High School. From Culpeper take Rt. 522 North to Sperryville and follow Rt. 522 North and Rt. 211 East to the Bleu Rock Inn on the left across from the Rappahannock High School.

Number cloths will not be issued unless current coggins tests for each starter is presented; likewise a health certificate must accompany horses shipping from outside Virginia. Entry fees must be paid by cash or check in order to receive number cloths. This will be strictly enforced. No dogs allowed on the Locust Hill Farm property.

About 3 miles with optional jumps not more than two feet high. Open to Junior and Senior Foxhunters as well as Hilltoppers. May be ridden in ratcatcher or formal hunting attire. Optimum Time, no jumping. Post entries and cross entries allowed. Entry fee $30 per pair. For qualifying riders, this race is part of the Hunter Pace Flat Series. Points Count Toward Year-End Awards.

Approximately 3 miles over rolling hunt country. Three divisions: Adult Optimum Time, Junior or Adult/Junior Optimum Time and Adult Fast Time. Horses and riders must have fairly hunted during the current season with any foxhunting or beagle pack or pony club. Pony Club Members who are deemed qualified by their District Commissioners may compete. The course will be marked (with maps available in a mailbox at the course) and open for walking after noon Saturday, April 8, 2006. No schooling. Entry fee $30 per pair payable on arrival at the event. Points Count Toward Year-End Awards.

Hurdles - National Fences

Fifteen starters allowed in races on the flat. Thirteen starters allowed in races over fences.

No race will be split on race day. The races will be drawn at the time of entry, and six also eligible horses will be listed in the order that they will draw in as scratches occur until race day. Horses that are included in another race will not be included on the also eligible list.

Entry fees: $25 in all races. Entry fees will be waived for all starters. This does not include cross entries.

Number cloths will not be issued until entry fees are paid.

CONDITIONS GOVERNING RACES

Entries will be taken for eight races, but only six races will be run. Races will not be carded if entries indicate a small field or possible walkover.

No schooling will be permitted on the course. The Committee and owners of the property on which the Meeting is held assume no responsibility for injury or loss incurred by either participants or spectators and entries are accepted only under the condition that the participants release them from any and all liability.

Purses will be distributed as follows: 60% to first; 18% to second; 10% to third; 5% to fourth; 4% to fifth; and 3% to sixth.
