Director Public Programming
Morven Park, the magnificent Leesburg estate of Westmoreland Davis, Governor of Virginia from 1918-1922, is seeking an exceptionally creative individual to lead our educational mission to explore, explain and preserve the culture of rural Virginia. The Director of Public Programming will design and implement engaging and meaningful programs that connect Davis’ agricultural practices and his political efforts on behalf of rural Virginians, with current trends in organic farming, home gardening, recreation and preservation of open space, sustainability, and nutrition and wellness.
S/he will plan and implement school, holiday and special programs for youth, families, and adult lifelong learners; recruit and train historical interpreters; and conduct special events and public relations programs as required. Occasional evening and week end work is required.
Qualifications:

Creativity.

A college or university degree in a related discipline such as history, agriculture, food sciences, or museum studies.

A minimum of five years experience planning and implementing public and school educational programs.

Excellent research, writing and speaking skills.

A strategic planner who can engage the public by involving private sector partners such as organic farmers and vintners.
