The Westmoreland Davis Mansion
Located just west of Leesburg, Virginia off Rt. 7 on Old Waterford Road you can find a wonderful, historic mansion. A focal point of the 1,200 acre estate, it evolved from a fieldstone farmhouse in 1781. This elegant property was home to two governors: Thomas Swann, a governor of Maryland in the 19th century, and Virginia's reform governor Westmoreland Davis.
The Museum of Hounds and Hunting
The Museum of Hounds and Hunting, located at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, serves as the repository of the art, artifacts and literature of the centuries-old sport of foxhunting. The Museum, located in the north wing of the Mansion, contains a collection of paintings, bronzes, and photographs. Displays of elegant hunting attire and tack; music, books and videos portraying famous hounds, huntsmen and Hunts in North America and England. Beagling and French staghunting artifacts are also on display.
The Winmill Carriage Museum
The Winmill Carriage Collection is located at the bottom of the hill to the
right of the Coach House. Twenty-five vehicles are on display at a time
with some exhibit pieces altering each year. The collection contains
coaches, breaks, phaetons, gigs, a hearse, a Steam Pumper and many more, all
driven during the turn of the century.
