Westmoreland Davis was the first Virginia Governor
to fly in an airplane.
He circled over Richmond before coming to a
bumpy landing among a crowd of admirers.

Westmoreland Davis could trace his lineage to the first resident
colonial governor of Virginia, Thomas West, 3rd Lord de la

He entered VMI at the young age of fourteen.

First Lady Marguerite Davis volunteered alongside other
women of the Commonwealth at the Seven Pines Munitions Plant,
filling munitions bags with gunpowder.
