Park Drag

Sprinkler Wagon

The Park Drag is a sporting vehicle, popular in the mid 1800's, built for private use. The Drag is lighter than the Road Coach and used for short trips. The roof seats gave the passengers a grandstand view, to see and be seen at events. The door of the boot is hinged at the bottom to serve as a table for preparing the luncheons stored in the iceboxes in the boot. Servants usually rode inside to free the roof seats for guests. The basket, hanging from the side, carried the horn used by the groom to announce the arrival of the coach as a sharp turn was approached. It sometimes held umbrellas for the passengers to protect them from the bright sun or a sudden rainstorm.

This was Mrs. Winmill's second coach.
