Morven Park Photography, Film & Video Guidelines

Morven Park’s policy is to extend every consideration to individuals and organizations that would like to photograph or film Morven Park, its grounds, exterior buildings, and equestrian events. The guidelines listed below have been instituted to ensure that Morven Park’s image is preserved and accurately represented. A request form must be filled out and fee paid in advance for all professional photography, filming, and video, and submitted two weeks in advance to the Morven Park Administration office.

By entering the Morven Park property, you agree to these terms. Morven Park reserves the right to refuse requests for photography, film or video.

Family, Engagment, Wedding, Portrait and other Professional Photography

All professional family, engagement, wedding, portrait, and other photography is by appointment only. Contact hbartlow@morvenpark.org or 703-777-2414 x6619 at least 2 business days in advance to schedule your photo shoot. Professional photographers are required to pay a $100/hour photography fee (see below), or purchase a Morven Park Photography membership. Commercial Media

As a general policy, Morven Park does not allow its name or any images of the Governor’s residence, museums, grounds, or Equestrian Center to be used for commercial purpose, commercial gain, or to promote a product, or service without prior written consent. Those who would like to use photographs of Morven Park for these purposes must submit their request in writing two weeks prior to the requested date. Morven Park maintains a library of stock photographs which may be used with the following photo credit “Photo courtesy of Morven Park.”

Visitors

We encourage visitors to take photographs of the Governor’s residence and grounds for your personal use. However, visitors may not take pictures inside the residence or museums. No photographs, video’s, CDs, multimedia, or images of any kind are to be used for commercial uses without the express written consent of the Morven Park Administration office.

Photography Guidelines

All professional photographers including family and wedding photographers may take photographs of the exterior buildings, Equestrian Center, and grounds with written consent two weeks prior to the scheduled shoot. Interior shooting of the Governor’s residence and museums is not permitted.

Morven Park TV/Video Guidelines

In all cases, camera crews must obtain prior written approval from the Administration office two weeks prior to taping or broadcasting on Morven Park property. The Crew will be provided with a location, directions, and photography credentials.

Photography Credentials

All photographers or film crews must sign in and out at the Visitors Center located in the Governor’s residence. You will be provided with credentials that must be displayed at all times. Return credentials upon completion of shoot to the Visitors Center.

Copies

Morven Park requests two (2) copies of completed projects for its archives and requests the right to use the photographs or video with proper credit.

Legal Restrictions/Requirements

Photographers and members of their respective crews must take responsibility for their own equipment and persons being photographed. Morven Park is not responsible for any damage or theft of equipment while on property. The individual/organization filming or photographing will hold Morven Park harmless against any claims, injuries, or expenses that result from their work on the property. The Morven Park Administration office reserves the right to request insurance coverage for any commercial photography or film shoot.

Rates are on an hourly basis or any portion there-of.
1 hour - $100
2 hours - $200
3 hours- $300
Before or after business hours – Determined per request
