Saturday, May 12th ushered in a new, annual event at Morven Park
with the inaugural America's Cup of Polo match. Spectators from
near and far gathered to watch America's team take on the visiting
British players. "Chukker," "pony goal," and
"off side tail shot" were just a few of the terms spectators
learned as the exciting match progressed.
Although the British
team won the match, 7-3, the Americans are ready to play again
next May when they host a team from Italy.

Polo was just a part of the day-long event. Performances by
the Loudoun Symphony and the Urban Nation H.I.P.-H.O.P. Choir
started the festivities, as spectators arrived shortly before
noon. A breathtaking parachute air show demonstration by Black
Water USA thrilled the crowds and "flew in" the British
and American flags to start the polo match. The day's activities
ended with a two-hour performance by the legendary rock band
"Journey" and an impressive fireworks display.

"The fun and games for the day were for a good cause",
says Morven Park's Director of Marketing, Charlie Muldoon. "The
money raised is for 'Journey for the Cure,' particularly for the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society. What better way to spend a spring day, than to come to
Morven Park, enjoy a polo match, and raise money for a good cause!"
