Preservation Work Begins On
Historic Governor's Mansion At Morven Park
Preservation
Project Photos
The historical landmark mansion at
Morven Park is undergoing an extensive and much-needed multi-year
conservation and preservation effort. Tidewater Preservation of
Fredericksburg, Virginia will remove the stucco exterior to determine
the original types of construction materials used as the home
was expanded multiple times over the 18th and 19th centuries.
Tidewater is repairing and stabilizing the structure, replacing
the roof, repairing the chimneys, and applying a new stucco surface.
A grant received from the Loudoun Restoration and Preservation
Society helped fund conservation work on the mansion's nine chimneys.
Visitors to Morven Park will be able to see the work in progress
over the next several years as we work to conserve the home of
former Virginia Governor Westmoreland Davis for generations to
enjoy.
