Dressage Judges

Nancy Lowey
Nancy Lowey is a Bronze and Silver Medalist, a USEF Dressage Technical Delegate, and a USEF ‘R’ Dressage Judge from Orange, VA. In addition to many years serving on boards of several chapter and state dressage associations, Nancy has organized and managed many licensed dressage shows, clinics, and other events. Her professional expertise, combined with a cheerful and positive attitude, makes her a popular clinician and judge with riders of all levels. Currently, Nancy is training and showing her horse Peter at Grand Prix.  Nancy is located in Orange, Virginia.

Trish De Rosa
Trish De Rosa is a USDF "L" graduate and Bronze medalist with a USDF University education award, and over 20 years of experience in Combined Training and Dressage, including a passion for musical freestyles.  Trish lives in Frederick, MD, currently owns two young Oldenburgs, and coaches and trains part-time.

Jocelyn Pearson
Jocelyn Pearson is owner of a quiet private dressage barn in Leesburg, Va. Jocelyn’s dressage judge education began in 1972 and continued through participation in 12 judges’ programs since then, either as a demo rider, auditor, participant or organizer - most recently in the 2009 PVDA L Program. She participated in instructor training through the Horse Masters’ course at the Potomac Horse Center in 1973 and as an instructor focuses on helping students learn to ride successful dressage tests, and building the skills and confidence of timid riders and/or confused horses. Currently, Jocelyn is Vice-President and News Editor for PVDA.

Betty Thorpe
Betty Thorpe has been an "r" judge since 1983.  She has served on the board of dressage organizations  n Minnesota, New England, and now with PVDA, she serves as its president.  She is currently president of PVDA.  She also writes articles covering shows and clinics for the PVDA newsletter and in the past for Sidelines in Florida.  Betty competes locally, currently at Third Level.   Betty’s “day job” is the position of president of a mechanical contractor company that specializes in commercial air conditioning.

Evelyn Susol
Evelyn Susol is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, “L” Graduate, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Equestrian studies from Lake Erie College and is a Positive Riding Module I graduate.  She also has earned Gold, Silver and Bronze Musical Freestyle Bars.   With over 20 years of dressage training, instruction and competitive experience maintaining sound, happy horses and students, Evelyn owns and operates Cool Breeze Farm Sport Horse Training Centre in Orrtanna, PA. Evelyn is involved with the International Equestrian Organization (South/Central PA’s USDF GMO) and is the Dressage Team Coach for Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.   Visit www.coolbreezefarm.com for more information.

Dressage Instructors/Trainers

Stephanie Alvord
Stephanie Alvord is a USDF Gold, Silver, & Bronze medalist and she has earned her Gold, Silver and Bronze Freestyle Bars. She has also earned the German FN Bronze and Silver Reitabzeichen (Riders Badge) while training and competing in Germany from 1994-98.  Currently, Stephanie rides her Oldenburg, Dreamboy, and together they have had competitive success at Intermediare and Grand Prix. She is also competing with Graf Alpha at Intermediare. Stephanie coached the United States Pony Club Quadrille Team, winners of the Quadrille Freestyle and the USPC Robert Dover Freestyle Pins in 2008.  Stephanie owns and manages Clover Hill Farm, in Waterford, Va.

Eventing Instructors/Trainers

Gillian Clissold
Gillian Clissold is a former Advanced level competitor who rode her mare, Sportscar, to the USEA Mare of the Year award in 03.  She now trains, instructs, and competes out of her Quarternote Farm in Nokesville, Va and will introduce Sportscar’s two daughters to Preliminary level in 2010.  Gillian specializes in teaching adult amateurs and working with sensitive horses.

Yvonne Lucas 
Yvonne Lucas rides and trains from her farm in Berryville, VA, as well as across Northern VA and nearby MD areas. She has successfully brought horses from green-broke up to levels as high as Advanced eventing and Prix St Georges dressage, often simultaneously. She offers lessons, training, clinics and coaching at shows, as well as sales, retirement board and layups. Yvonne’s training emphasis is on correct basics for both horse and rider, and she has a thoughtful and supportive teaching and training style. She welcomes both green and experienced horses and riders, will teach/train at home or away, and welcomes those who aspire to pleasure riding, as well as to top level competition.  Yvonne’s website is www.redmoonfarm.com.
