Roof Seat or Derby Break

Steam Pumper

The Roof Seat Break is a sporting vehicle with three rows of seats. The high seats kept the passengers above the dust, allowing them to see and be seen while traveling. The break was often used as a portable set of bleachers for viewing polo matches and race meets. The Roof Seat Break was usually drawn by a team or four horses. On occasion a unicorn hitch was used requiring three horses.
