Time
Travelers
Morven Park is pleased to announce that it is participating again
in the annual Time Travelers
program. The program was developed as a state-wide project to
stimulate interest in and visitation to Virginia's historic attractions.
This year, more than 150 museums and historic sites in Virginia
will be participating in the program.
Virginia Time Travelers is a pilot project developed by the
Virginia History Initiative and now under the auspices of the
Virginia Cultural Coordinating Committee. The program uses passports,
discounts, and a reward system to encourage students and their
families to visit Virginia museums and historic sites.
Over 350,000 "passports" were distributed to students across
the state. Each passport contains a list of participating museums
and historic sites grouped by region, a map showing site locations,
and a space for students to collect stamps.
Bring your TimeTravelers passport with you when you visit between
March 1 and November 1. When you have stamps from six different
sites, mail us a photocopy of your passport showing your stamps
and your name and address before November 15. We will then mail
you a signed certificate stating that you are an official Virginia
TimeTraveler. For a fee of $7 (shipping and handling) we will
also mail you an official TimeTravelers T-shirt. Remember to keep
your original passport with your collection of unique stamps from
the places you visit.
Morven Park will be providing each student with a passport and
stamp when they tour or download the PDF
version. Part of the tour also includes a worksheet that students
and their families can complete upon finishing their visit. Tour
hours are Friday - Monday, Noon - 4:00PM.
This is a wonderful program for families in Virginia. Not only
can they tour Morven Park Mansion, Museum of Hounds and Hunting
and the Winmill Carriage Collection but they can also walk the
beautiful grounds and picnic on site in the picnic area. For more
information, please contact us. You
may also contact the Virginia
Historical Society's web site or call their number at 804-358-4901.
